AgBox is more than a farmer owned data cooperative, AgBox is a business model, a strategy to enable large scale, simple and transparent access to farm data. AgBox offers farmers secure storage of farm data with continual redundant backup where access is monitored and controlled - never assumed.
Verified Credentials
AgID puts farmers in the driver’s seat when it comes to their data with cryptographically secured digital identities - a digital wallet, holding your information - certified by trusted ag partners.

Our Journey
Our journey began with the Ontario Precision Agri-Food (OPAF) initiative and the vision of Canada Digital Agri-Food (CPAF), a Canada-wide common infrastructure of developing a platform for secure data collaboration amongst all members of the Agri-Food value chain to address issues of data standards, data interoperability, and data security.

User Needs
Phase 1, a deep dive into the agri-food data ecosystem; assets, challenges and opportunities. User Needs walks through the Ontario ag sectors, exploring the use and generation of data - starting at the farm, up through trusted farm advisors, not-for-profit organizations, for profit ag industry, academia and government organizations.
Collaboration Platform
User Needs set the stage for Phase 2 and 3, development and test drive of a open Canadian Agri-Food data collaboration and innovation platform to drive the next generation of decision support system capability - demonstrating idea of data - not connected once, but integrated across time and space enabling reporting and analysis from near real-time farm data.
AgBox v 1.0
From the start, AgBox was envisioned to be a farmer owned data cooperative, giving farmers a confident and secure Canadian platform for the storage of on-farm data. AgBox was supported by the Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE), a member of the Ontario Network of Entrepreneurs (ONE) with funding provided by the Government of Ontario.
